Lovely and hard to find Masdevallia ayabacana x Masd. venus
The parents of this primary masdevallia hybrid are native to portions of Peru and Ecuador, high up on mountain slopes in a cloud forest environment. The triangular flowers are just beautiful. This one is blooming size.
These fast-growing, compact plants are perfect for windowsill growers and those with limited space. And the great thing is that they can produce blooms several times a year.
To our knowledge, this hybrid has not been named yet.
Multiple spikes are common in mature plants. Keep this plant cool and moist and grow in bright indirect light. Use a humidity tray if your home is exceptionally dry. The single leaf on each growth is 3 to 5 inches long.
You are purchasing a plant like the one pictured, in a 3-inch pot. We have a number of these and we always ship the largest.
Keep these moist and cool and grow in bright indirect light. Remember, use a humidity tray if your home is exceptionally dry.
Mature specimen plants can have LOTS of flowers -- one CCM had 64 flowers. Natural spread was 3.4 cm, and 3.6 cm long.
FYI, we don't recommend masdevallias for beginners.
