These are mericlones just starting to spike for the first time. They are a wonderful addition for someone who wants to add more unusual orchids to their collection. Cygnodes Wine Delight produces fragrant, bright, red-wine colored flowers 3 to 4 inches in diameter with 5 to 7 or 8 on a spike. They only last a couple  of weeks but a large mature plant can bloom several time a year. These are young plants in spike for the first time. When they grow up they can make a spectacular show. Actually they are pretty nice the first time around. These are more interesting than most because they have a thin white border on the edge of the leaves. They need bright light (some sun) and warm temperature to bloom properly. These are in small pots but don't repot until the new growth is 2 to 3 inches tall.  They require a good bit of water and fertilizer during the growing period.

Cygnodes is semi-deciduous which means some years it will drop some or all its leaves after flowering and some years it doesn't. If it drops the leaves give it a fairly dry rest period but give it enough water so that the pseudo bulbs don't shrivel.  When new growth appears resume regular watering and fertilizing.
