Hard to find Propetalum La Jolla Delight orchid, near blooming size
This one puts out some dark, fragrant blooms with a bright lavender/purple lip.
We love zygopetalums and their hybrids because they are easy to grow and produce wonderfully fragrant flowers.
The breeding on this one is Promenaea stapelioides x Zygopetalum Kiwi Dusk.
These orchids are near blooming size, likely to flower in 12 to 18 months or so if properly grown. They are freshly repotted in 3.5 inch pots and the longest leaves are 15 inches or so. We have a bunch of these and we always ship the largest.
The name zygopetalum is derived from the Greek word "zygon", meaning "yoked petal." It refers to the yoke-like growth at the base of the lip caused by the fusion of petals and sepals They occur in humid forests in South America at low- to mid-elevation regions, with most species found in Brazil. The ones we have are mericlones and all should be beautiful.
Grow this one in bright indirect light, in a temperature range of 55 to 85 degrees. Try not to let it dry out completely, but don't keep it sopping wet. Fertilize twice a month. We include free growing instructions.
